NBPC New Media Insitute: NMI Africa 2007 ~ Face Of Tomorrow 6mins 23secs
Produced by Barakatu
Price: Free
Using as inspiration, the communities surrounding the Ussher Fort in Accra, Ghana, student filmmaker Baraka Ackom (Zoya) observes the life and play of children in this tourist neighborhood. In an area rampant with tourist traffic and tourist attractions (the Ussher Fort one of them) Ackom turns her lens to the lesser observed, attempting to unearth something true and universal; triggering questions of place, identity and municipal responsibility. "Face Of Tomorrow" was filmed on location during a week-long short form documentary workshop organized as part of the National Black Programming Consortium's collaboration with the Real Life Documentary festival.
