This is a rich, informative interview. It gives new levels of meaning to one of the most engaging, most important documentaries of the last 10 years.

I really like the film Beyond Beats and Rhymes. I think Byron Hurt's voice in the film is honest and risk-taking. This interview with Mr. Hurt shares that same compelling perspective that you get access to in the film but this time he is talking about making films. It's neat to hear about his influences and the challenges he has faced in filmmaking.
